With school out for the summer, Ohio County Board of Education meeting celebrated accomplishments of the school year.
“We were able to celebrate OVAC Coach of the Year - Brian Leggett, as well as an incident that took place in one of our elementary schools where Martha Busack was in action able to save the child,” Superintendent Kim Miller said. “It was nice to be able to celebrate them, as well as “Tank” Hawkins who was a state champion in the 100 and 200. We were able to have him and his family here, as well. So, we are proud of a lot of things taken place."
Not only were those in the school district honored for their accomplishments, another individual was recognized for his hard work and was congratulated with a new position.
"We're very excited for our new (principal) hire at Triadelphia Middle School - Andrew Seals,” Miller said. “We look forward to all the wonderful things he is going to do in collaboration with his amazing staff. We look forward to moving forward."
With the official school year coming to a close, school will still be in session for the summer, with several programs offered.
"We will continue to analyze our test data from our GSA and work to refine what we find out from those test scores preparing for next school year,” Miller said. “This summer we'll have summer school, extended school year, as well as team camp taking place. It's almost like the year doesn't end, we keep going and moving forward."
The board’s next meeting is June 13.
