Omar Bojang, the Man Who Killed 11-Year-Old Kyhara Tay Captured and Arrested

NEW YORK, NY – The fugitive moped driver wanted in connection with the murder of 11-year-old Kyhara Tay has been captured, the New York City Police Department announced on Monday. He was seen leaving New York’s 41st Precinct Monday night after surrendering to police with his lawyer in tow.

The New York City Police Department was searching for Bojang, who is wanted for shooting 11-year-old Kyhara Tay in a shooting that took place Monday. Bojang was one of two gunmen involved in the shooting.

Earlier this week, police arrested the other gunman, identified as 15-year-old Matthew Godwin. Goodwin and Bojang were chasing a 13-year-old boy down Fox Street on a moped shooting at him when Tay was struck and killed.


Bojang is a known gang member with a prior arrest for gun possession and an open warrant for a robbery.

Kyhara Tay who was shot in the stomach by a pair of men riding a scooter has died tonight police have reported. According to police, on Monday at around 4:50 pm, the pair fired their gun, striking the girl in the area of 995 Westchester Avenue in the Longwood section of the Bronx.

The two men were chasing a man who was fleeing when the shots rang out, police said. Instead of hitting their target, a bullet struck the child. The girl ran into a nearby nail salon begging for help, in tears, crying in pain. She was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where she later died.

He is wanted in connection to the homicide of 11-year-old Kyhara Tay. Someone knows him.
