Region 1B Golf: Great Plains Lutheran's Hansen, Clark-Willow Lake's Roehrich earn medalist honors

A week after winning pre-region titles, Sam Hansen of Great Plains Lutheran and Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake made it official by earning medalist honors Monday in the Region 1B high school boys and girls golf tournament at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

Hansen shot a 3-over 75 and won by the boys division by five shots over Carson Pedersen of Hamlin. Roehrich's 86 helped her win the girls division by five shots over Darby Koenecke of Deuel.

Hamlin won the boys division team title with a 257, nine shots better than runner-up Great Plains Lutheran. Castlewood topped Clark-Willow Lake by nine shots in the girls division, 301-310.

The top 19 boys and top 15 girls, along with the top two teams in each division, qualified for state June 6-7 at Rapid City. The girls will play at the Hart Ranch Golf Course and the boys at the Elks Golf Course.

With three individual qualifiers apiece, Castlewood and Doland's boys and Deuel and Webster Area's girls also will compete for team honors at state.
