WATCH: Expert says Heard’s ‘world has been silenced’ by Depp controversy

.

Entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold testified Monday that Aquaman should have been Amber Heard’sA Star is Born moment” but that it instead turned into silence. According to her, a “negativity campaign” ensued after former Johnny Depp attorney Alex Waldman called the actress’s abuse allegations false, restricting her opportunities.

“Her world has been silenced,” Arnold said, explaining that Heard has failed to fulfill the trajectory she should’ve had after the blockbuster movie.

“It was that moment where not only was she a good actor, but she was now world renowned because she was in the most successful film” for DC Comics, Arnold added. However, she said studios cannot work with the actress because “the social media negativity campaign starts up again.”

“It was just this extraordinary moment for her, for her career to take off,” she said of Aquaman.

“It would have been very reasonable to believe her career would have been on an upward trajectory of those other actors,” Arnold explained, comparing Heard to Ana de Armas, Zendaya, and Gal Gadot, among others.

“It’s very likely Ms. Heard should have earned $45 [million] to $50 million over that time period,” she added.

Arnold also claimed that the downturn in Depp’s career not only began before the controversy with Heard and her subsequent op-ed but that it happened because of his notorious bad behavior.

She cited “erratic behavior, the tardiness, the drugs and alcohol abuse,” further claiming that Depp’s various “lawsuits have had a really big impact” due to his massive celebrity.

“So every time a lawsuit has been filed, the press and publicity has just been charged up and brought everything back to light,” she said. “It’s been an unfortunate problem … for the industry to continue to work with him even though all this is out in the public.”

She further alleged that the 2018 op-ed had a negligible effect, if any, adding that Disney’s decision regarding the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie was based on Depp’s poor professional behavior.
