It’s finally time for the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V to move over for the Nissan Rogue. We’re excited to announce that the 2022 Nissan Rogue finally has enough power to tackle its rivals. Check out what’s new.

How much power does the 2022 Nissan Rogue have?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that cranks out 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. This is an extra 20 horsepower and 44 lb-ft more torque that equals about an 11 and 24 percent increase.

The old engine was a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 181 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides an adequate amount of power but doesn’t exactly make for an engaging or sporty ride.

With the new engine, the Rogue can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds. It took the Rogue about 9.2 seconds to reach 60 mph with the old engine. So, it has an impressive amount of increased power.

When properly equipped, the Rogue can tow up to 1,350 lbs. Some of its competitors, like the Toyota RAV4, can tow up to 3,500 lbs. All-wheel drive is available across the entire lineup.

What’s new for the 2022 Rogue?

Not much has changed for the 2022 Nissan Rogue, aside from its new engine. The CVT was also revised to enhance acceleration and fuel economy.

The 2022 Rogue gets an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and up to 37 mpg on the highway, which is outstanding. The out-going model gets an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway.

You can get started in a new Rogue for about $27,150. The 2022 Toyota RAV4 begins at around $26,525, so it has a competitive price. It could also provide more value. These prices are the MSRPs, so they don’t include destination fees or dealership markups.

The Nissan Rogue serves as a low-effort, comfortable daily driver. It has a smooth ride over uneven pavement. It has limited body roll and feels confident around curves. However, wind noise is noticeable at highway speeds.

Is the 2022 Rogue worth buying?

Of course, the 2022 Nissan Rogue is worth buying. It was an excellent SUV before it finally gained more power. The Rogue transformed from boring to sporty. It includes plenty of value with an upscale interior and large spacious seats.

Moving up in trim levels provides access to faux-leather or genuine leather. The bi-level dashboard and storage cubbies offer plenty of storage space without compromising its looks.

An 8-inch dashboard comes standard, but you can upgrade to the larger 9.0-inch unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included too. You can opt for built-in navigation and upgrade to a Bose stereo system.

The optional 12.3-inch reconfigurable digital gauge cluster is bundled with a 10.8-inch head-up display and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

While the 2021 Nissan Rogue was too slow to compete, now the 2022 model is ready to race. We will keep you updated on how the Rogue stacks up to the competition.
