BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A drug arrest operation ended with several people behind bars, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they arrested John Chaney of Staunton during a routine traffic stop on Friday, May 6. When they pulled Chaney over, they found one pound of meth, 4.6 grams of heroin, and $2,000 in cash.

Chaney faces the following charges:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine
  • Possession of heroin

The sheriff’s office says Chaney is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Then, on Tuesday, May 10, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit arrested five more people in connection with drug offenses within the county.

Deputies arrested David Keith Turner of Big Island, George Franklin Lynch of Thaxton, and Megan Orange of Bedford. They face distribution of methamphetamine charges.

Deputies also arrested two others on the following charges:

  • Stormie Leigh Wills of Bedford for distribution of suboxone
  • Trae Lamar Calloway of Forest for distribution of imitation of a controlled substance

The sheriff’s office says there were three other people who were arrested on outstanding warrants. The U.S. Marshals Service and the Town of Bedford Police Department assisted in these arrests.
