Sean McKenzie had previously been charged in Fayette County with multiple charges related to child pornography. His hearing Monday was canceled and charges in the county were dismissed after he was taken into custody by Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
During a federal court appearance Monday afternoon, a judge unsealed an indictment against McKenzie. He is facing two counts accusing him of both possession and producing material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. A judge ordered McKenzie to be held in federal custody pending a detention hearing.
Despite McKenzie's charges being dismissed in Fayette County, District Attorney Rich Bower said that does not mean the case is closed and the investigation is ongoing.
