- Do you still get ideas for different ways to produce things, sounds? You-- - The music?

- Yeah.

- Well, usually, you know, recording's still slower these days.

- Uh huh.

- You know?

- What's your process like?

- The process?

- Yeah.

- Start with a background track.

- Uh huh.

- Then you do the background vocals.

Then you do the leads.

- Okay.

- Like we'll do today.

(people play instruments) - Am I gonna be on keys?

- That's correct.

(people play instruments) - What's been making you feel like making a rock and roll record?

- I don't know.

Well, actually, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) was a rock and roll album.

- Yep.

- But I'd like to do another one with, with the covers.

- Uh huh.

- Instead of original.

- Uh huh.

- Is your click okay?

(people play instruments) - How do you feel about spending a few days with your band?

- I think it'd be nice to be back with them, you know?

- Well, it's about time we all recorded like this.

(people play instruments) - And we are here.

- I'm nervous.

- It's like you say when you go on stage, nervous for about two minutes.

- Right. And then soon as I hear California Girls, I'm cool.

(people play instruments) ♪ Do do ♪ - Right there. Alright. One, two, three.

(people play instruments) ♪ Da da ♪ - No man, don't.

- Are you sure it's the (plays piano)? - Yeah.

- Yeah, that's it.

(people play instruments) I'll play the piano.

- Yeah! Now we're talking.

- Hi Matt.

- How you doin' Brian?

- I'm good. How are you?

- Doing alright.

(Brian plays piano) - Okay.

- I've come!

(people laugh) - Hi, Tom.

- Hi, Brian.

- How are you?

- Good. How are you?

- Good.

- It's coming.

- What's coming?

- The click.

- Oh.

(Brian plays piano) Okay, it's cool.

- Okay.

(people play instruments) - Paul?

- Yeah?

- It's just (plays piano) (Paul plays saxophone) - No, wait. (plays piano) - Okay.

(people play instruments) - Okay, Paul?

- Yeah?

- Play staccato.

♪ Bong, bong, bong. ♪ - Okay.

(Paul plays saxophone) - Yeah.

- Ooh.

(people play instruments) - Hold it.

The guitar sound a little fuzzy.

- See if that's better.

- Okay. One, two, three, four.

(people play instruments) - Yeah, we're cool.

Let's try one.

- Okay.
