According to police, the 41-year-old man and his 13, 10, and 8-year-old sons left their vehicle at the entrance of Manorville Hills County Park, located on County Road 111, at around 6:30 p.m. and took bicycles onto a trail.

The family attempted to use GPS location on their cell phone to return to their vehicle shortly before 8 p.m., but were unable to get a connection.

At 9:16 p.m., Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct officers responded after receiving a 911 call from the father stating he was lost, just before his cell phone battery died.

With the assistance of the Suffolk County Police Aviation Section and Suffolk County Park Police, officers conducted a coordinated search of the park and eventually the family was found just before 10:20 p.m.

The family was not injured and was transported back to their vehicle.
