Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has been sharing her thoughts on whether the popular pairing of Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs could ever reunite.

The popular couple parted ways last year in the wake of Tyrone's affair with Alina Pop, and viewers have seen Fiz move on in recent months with a new lover, Phill.

But with there seemingly being more to Phill than meets the eye, and with Tyrone catching him out in an apparently dodgy deal, will his duplicitous ways lead to a reunion for Tyrone and Fiz? Fiz star Jennie McAlpine certainly thinks it’s possible.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, McAlpine does indeed think that Fiz would take the old Tyrone back, but that the affair may be something that she will never be able to get past.

"She would go back in a heartbeat to the Tyrone that was pre-Alina, that didn't do that to her, that didn't break her heart. That's the thing she just can't get over," she explained.

"She could go back, but she can't. She can't get over what he did to her and her family. He tore it apart. So that's where we are, that's where we're stuck."

Further adding fuel to the fire that Fiz will have some serious decision-making to do is producer Iain MacLeod, who recently said: "We're giving the audience cause to question Phill's motives at times. I won't spoil the outcome of all that, but Fiz will end up in a huge dilemma about where her future lies."

But while the future is uncertain for the pair, it's not all bad news as McAlpine noted that the new dynamic between Fiz and Tyrone does allow her to put her feet up more when filming.

"Normally it's Tyrone sat on the chair, a bit like Jack was, and Fiz is in the kitchen making a brew, making the school lunches," she said.

"It's been a bit like a role reversal. In the last few scenes I've had, I've been on the sofa and Tyrone's been the one making the tea because it's not my house anymore. So that's been quite nice, I've literally been able to sit down more!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
