It's been an impressive offseason for the New Orleans Saints. After making numerous moves, the front office found a way to get back under the cap space. Additionally, New Orleans has brought in some exciting talent to improve their chances of making a playoff run. Even so, this team needs as much help as possible from the new prospects. For that reason, we take a look at one potential undrafted free agent who will make the Saints' 2022 roster.

This organization is one of the best-run franchises in the NFL. They always seem to be in the running and the roster is looking nice right now. Even so, there are some concerns regarding the offense while the defense shapes up to be one of the best in the league. If the Saints can receive a boost from their rookie class, then New Orleans should be in the hunt late in the regular season.

The front office reeled in Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry which should help the passing game tremendously. It's not exactly clear if Michael Thomas will be ready to go to start the season. Even so, the main issue might be the running back position, as the Saints could use a boost in the backfield.

With that said, here is our one undrafted free agent to make the Saints' 2022 roster.

Saints Undrafted Free Agent To Make 2022 Roster

Abram Smith

New Orleans could be in trouble to start the season. The running back situation could be in a tough spot, which could prevent the Saints from reaching their full potential to start the year. Alvin Kamara may face a suspension for his actions during the Pro Bowl weekend, Mark Ingram is getting up there in age, and Tony Jones is nothing to write home about. For that reason, Abram Smith could earn a role on the roster.

With so many question marks revolving around the Saints' backfield, Smith finds himself in a favorable situation as an undrafted free agent. The former Baylor Bear had just one season of production during his time in college, as he was a backup for most of his collegiate career. However, his final season was tremendous, as the prospect running back ran for 1,601 yards and 12 touchdowns of 257 attempts.

Abram Smith averaged an impressive 6.2 yards per attempt. He played a vital role in Baylor's offense in his final season. Considering he had a combined 46 yards in the previous three years on the team. So, the Saints have a young prospect ready to prove himself. Considering he shined bright when Baylor finally gave him a chance, there is reason to believe he can do so again at the professional level.

The Saints have been a powerhouse when running the ball. Alvin Kamara has been a monster of the years and Mark Ingram stepped into the backup role nicely last season. Considering New Orleans has a solid offensive line, Smith could fill the void at the running back position until Kamara comes off suspension. Ingram would likely be the best starting option in this scenario, allowing Abram Smith to serve as a complementary option out of the backfield.

Keep an eye on Smith throughout the summer as he has the potential to be a solid backup in case Kamara misses an extended amount of time at the beginning of the season. The Saints could use the help, especially considering they are chasing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC South title.
