According to Bedford County coroner Rusty Styer, a man was killed over the weekend in a kayaking accident along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River in Hopewell.

Styer says authorities were called to the 400 block of Broad Street, just before 2 p.m. Saturday, for a report of a drowning.

The coroner's office says Ronald James McQuait, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of an incident while kayaking.

Styer ruled McQuait's death as accidental.
