UPDATE: Over the weekend in Cisco, a dog was seen migrating across town with an injury.
Cisco Police Chief Kenneth Preston says approaching the dog was a challenge.
"They were trying to control or contain this dog," he said. "And the arrow went through the front part of his head and not the back. It didn’t penetrate any bone. But it went between the skin and his scalp. And the dog was scared and agitated. And every time the officers would get close to him, he’d take off."
Cisco police are investigating the crime. Chief Preston says whoever caused the injury intended malice.
"It looks suspicious to me to be honest with you. I don’t know how you can just randomly shoot a dog with an arrow. If it was in your chicken pen or tearing up your trash or whatever. I don’t know how you can shoot a dog with an arrow at that exact location and cause that to happen."
The Cisco Police Department is investigating an animal cruelty case.
According to a social media post from the police department, a dog was shot in the head with an arrow. Officials were able to capture and locate the dog this morning at 8:15am.
The dog was reportedly hard to detain and had been running around scared across the town all weekend.
Police are calling the incident a "senseless act of cruelty" and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Cisco Police at 254-442-1770 or Eastland Crime Stoppers.
