CLEARWATER, Fla. — A small plane was down Monday afternoon near St. Pete Clearwater International Airport.

There were no injuries in the incident at Ulmerton Road and Stony Brook Drive. It happened at about 2:45 p.m.

A twin engine Cessna with only the pilot on board was landing and the brakes failed. The aircraft came to a stop on airport property by Stoneybrook Drive N (adjacent to Roosevelt Blvd).

There is a fuel spill. The FAA was en route and the airfield will be closed until they arrive and clear for reopening.

Commercial operations are currently delayed.
