UPDATE:
The new transmission pole is in place and the entire substation has been restored.
ORIGINAL STORY:
According to a post on their Facebook page, Sumter EMC personnel have been working to restore power to members involved in the Terrell and Webster County outage.
The outage was caused by a broken transmission line pole that is located in the middle of a swamp nearly 1/2 mile from dry land.
Sumter EMC says the broken pole impacts the line that serves an entire substation impacting over 500 members.
Switching and back feeding is being used as a temporary fix to restore power until the broken pole is replaced.
The agency wants to inform members of the situation and be aware that additional outages may occur.
Crews have been dispatched and Georgia Transmission is working to replace the broken pole.
