Authorities later confirmed the student possessed a shotgun and ammunition, and the 16-year-old male was taken into custody. Charges of carrying weapons on school grounds, a class D felony, first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and manner of conveyance for an assembled gun, a simple misdemeanor, were forwarded to the juvenile courts.
