He has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, with his representative Pini Zahavi confirming that the player would love to complete the transfer.

However, the Bayern board still have Lewandowski under contract until the end of the 2022/23 season and remain reluctant to offload him now.

But Zahavi has responded angrily to the idea of the Bundesliga side trying to keep their talismanic No9 for another 12 months.

Speaking about the current situation, he told AS: "For Lewandowski, Bayern is history.

"Robert has the opportunity to go to the club that he's always dreamed of [Barcelona]. Why are Bayern denying him this opportunity?"

He continued: "Does the Bayern management say that they will keep Lewy until 2023? Yes, they can keep the player for another year, but that is something I do not advise.

"Lewandowski is a man. He knew what was going on around him and what Bayern were planning. He knew that the club wanted to replace him with Haaland.

"Lewandowski wants to leave this summer, none of us care about money.
