Family members removed the child from a pool at a home on Tennyson Drive in Nanuet on Sunday evening, according to Clarkstown police.

Police officers responded to the home shortly after 8 p.m. When they arrived, the boy was unresponsive, so they performed CPR and used a defibrillator on him.

Rockland Paramedics and Nanuet EMS arrived at the scene a short time later.

The child was rushed by ambulance to Montefiore Nyack Hospital but did not survive.

Clarkstown police didn’t immediately release details about the circumstances leading up to the drowning. They said they’re investigating “how this tragic incident occurred.”
