On a riveting afternoon, Liverpool were stunned by an early Pedro Neto goal as Wolves took an early lead at Anfield.

Sadio Mane equalised for Jurgen Klopp's men before Villa shocked the league by going 2-0 up away to City.

But Liverpool still needed a goal to win the title, with a draw not enough.

Finally, Salah scrambled home a late winner before racing over to fans in utter ecstasy, seemingly believing the title would be heading back to Anfield.

But, astonishingly, Ilkay Gundogan came off the bench just 35 miles up the road at the Etihad to spark a dramatic comeback for City.

In just five minutes, Pep Guardiola's side had come from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 with just ten minutes to play.

By the time Salah had scored, City had gone from losing comfortably, to somehow leading.

Clearly unaware of the latest update, Salah manically celebrated - charging over to join in with fans's celebrations at Anfield.

But as he got to the stands, one supporter told the Egyptian winger City were now leading with a 3-2 hand gesture.

Noticing the fan, Salah turned around in utter disbelief, looking utterly heartbroken.

Andy Robertson would go on to score another late on for Liverpool to secure a 3-1 win.

But Villa - led by Reds legend Steven Gerrard - were unable to force another late twist.

With that, City were crowned champions for the fourth time in five years.

Liverpool, for the second time in recent seasons - following the dramatic 2018-19 campaign - were forced to settle for second despite bagging over 90 points.

It summed up a dramatic final day for the Reds, who were been tricked by a false rumour claiming Villa had in fact made it 3-3.

After the game, Klopp had his say on the topsy-turvy day and even slammed Wolves fans for cheering City goals.
