Liverpool Would Have Won The Title, If The League Was Decided On Aggregate Score

Have no fear Liverpool fans, you may not have won the Premier League trophy but your team still managed to top the Premier League Aggregate table!

It was so close but yet so far for Jurgen Klopp's team on Sunday, as Manchester City dangled the final bit of hope in front of their eyes.

Like a piece of chocolate being attached to the end of some string to chase on someone's head to make them run quicker, the Reds never actually reached the summit of the table during the final day.

The fact that City were 2-0 down gave them hope against Wolves, but, by the time Mohamed Salah finally put them 2-1 up against Bruno Lage's side, Ilkay Gundogan had already put City 3-2 up against Aston Villa.

It's another tale of what could have been for the Reds, who, as with 2019, missed out on the title by one point, and will look back on the recent draw with Tottenham Hotspur, as they failed to beat any top four team this campaign, with instant regret.

But here's the good news guys, if the league table was worked out based on aggregate score against each opponent, meaning only three points available against them instead of six, then the Reds would be champions.

That's according to Odds-Comparison.com, who did all the research to work out who would come out on top in such a league table.

Liverpool were actually unbeaten across the season when it comes to aggregate scores, avenging any losses by bigger scores the other way.

City on the other hand had aggregate losses to both Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, who have both become their bogey sides in recent years, as much as Pep Guardiola's team have those.

Manchester United need every possible way to feel better about their season, and at least this table shows things could have been worse.

Of course, an aggregate table would have seen them lose 9-0 to rivals Liverpool this season, and that is the perfect way to sum up how bad things have been at Old Trafford this season.

A long with City, Southampton will be the most grateful that the season doesn't work like a Champions League semi final that Guardiola's team inevitably lose.

The Saints would have gone down in this alternative universe, but at this point we might as well be in an MCU film, so it's time to call it a day!
