Prince Charles is next in line to the British throne. The father of Prince William and Prince Harry, who is the longest waiting heir apparent, would become king after Queen Elizabeth passes.

Although Queen Elizabeth is 95 years old already and currently holds the record of being the longest-reigning British monarch, longevity runs in her family. Unlike his mom, Prince Charles has spent his entire life in preparation to wear the crown.

However, a new report claims that, though things are yet to be formalized, Prince Charles has already started replacing his badly ailing mother, Queen Elizabeth. Keep on reading to know more details.

Prince Charles Assumes Queen Elizabeth’s Responsibilities As Head Of State?

Globe Magazine, in its upcoming May 30, 2022 issue, reported that Prince Charles began his takeover of the monarchy by officially opening Parliament for the first time. However, the husband of Camilla Parker-Bowles only served as a stand-in for Queen Elizabeth, who missed the official ritual for only the second time in her 70 years of reign as a monarch on May 10.

It was claimed that Queen Elizabeth was not able to attend the event due to her mobility issues. Most, if not all, royal followers are aware that the mother of Prince Charles was, allegedly, so frail that she needed a cane, but mostly used a wheelchair and a mobility scooter.

Also, Globe Magazine previously noted that Prince Charles, the king in waiting, has been secretly taking charge behind the scenes as his mom, Queen Elizabeth, continues to focus on her health. An unnamed royal source stated:

“Get ready to see more and more of Charles and less and less of the queen. Charles is already the power behind the throne, and his wife, Camilla, can’t wait to seat her considerable rump on it.”

Opening the new parliamentary session is a core constitutional responsibility for the British monarch – in this case, Queen Elizabeth. It could not happen without her, just like the appointment of new Prime Ministers and the signing of parliamentary bills into law.

Queen Elizabeth, fortunately, has Prince Charles and Prince William by her side. As a matter of fact, the British monarch issued a legal notice known as Letters Patent to give the husbands of Camilla Parker-Bowles and Kate Middleton, respectively, authority to open Parliament on her behalf.

Prince Charles has yet to comment on the reports saying that he already took over the monarchy from Queen Elizabeth. So, devoted supporters of the Duke of Cornwall should take all these unverified claims with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.

Prince Charles ‘Deeply Ashamed’ Of Infamous Camilla Parker-Bowles Phone Call?

Meanwhile, Express UK reported that Prince Charles was “deeply ashamed” when a transcript of an intimate phone call conversation, fondly called "Camillagate," between him and his then-mistress, Camilla Parker-Bowles, made headlines. Royal biographer Howard Hodgson, in his biography of the late Princess Diana’s ex-husband, claimed that “even today, the episode troubles the Prince.”

Howard wrote:

“He knows that people not sympathetic to him or the monarchy will recall it at the time of his coronation and at all other meaningful moments in his life. He remains deeply ashamed of the embarrassment that he caused his mother, deeply sorry for the pain it caused both his and Camilla’s children.”

During the intimate phone conversation, Camilla Parker-Bowles told Prince Charles that she “can’t start the week without you.” The Prince of Wales replied, “I fill up your tank.”

Both Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles joked about “desperately” wanting to be together “all the time” amid some crude jokes while setting the time and venue of their next meet-up. The duo ended the call by confirming how they love each other, with the duke telling his then-mistress: “Your greatest achievement is love to me.”

Camilla Parker-Bowles, at the time, retorted that she would “suffer anything” for Prince Charles. She added: “That’s love. It’s the strength of love.”

Royal expert Wayne Francis claimed that the tape triggered the divorce of Camilla Parker-Bowles to her first husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles, who was publicly humiliated by his former wife’s infidelity. They ended their marriage in 1995 but continued co-parenting their two children – Laura and Tom.

Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana also, reportedly, negotiated a divorce at the time. Both of them even sat down for interviews, where they both confirmed their extramarital affairs.
