Police in Logan, Ohio tracked down a kidnapping victim and suspect from Virginia.
The Hocking County Sheriff's Office said they were contacted by detectives in Norfolk, Virginia, who were trying to find a woman they believed was abducted.
The detectives reportedly said she was able to contact her family and said she was taken from her residence by her estranged child’s father, whom she had a protection order against.
Investigators tracked her cell phone near the Laurelville, Ohio area, traveling toward Logan.
Logan police and Hocking County deputies on Friday conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle and safely recovered the victim and suspect without incident.
James M. Hunter II, 31 of Norfolk, was arrested and charged with kidnapping.
Deputies said the victim told them that he had abducted her from the driveway at her home in Norfolk, choked her, and used zip ties to restrain her.
Court documents filed by police said he held a gun to her head to prevent her from escaping. He reportedly said he did it out of "pure rage" because could not see his child.
The sheriff's office said more charges may be added after the case is presented to the grand jury.
The victim was transported back to Norfolk.
Hunter was arraigned and pleaded not guilty. A judge set bail at $250,000.
