JOHNNY DEPP VS. AMBER HEARD TRIAL RECAP: Kate Moss WILL testify, psychiatrist says Depp on numerous drugs and entertainment consultant says Heard's career could have soared like Zendaya's 

Court has adjourned for the day and is scheduled to resume Tuesday at 9 a.m. 

Depp's ex-girlfriend Kate Moss is expected to testify via video on Wednesday.

Other witnesses expected to testify in the rebuttal case this week include Dr. Richard Shaw, Dr. Kimberly Collins, Candie Davidson-Goldbronn, Walter Hamada of Warner Bros., Richard Marks, Mike Spindler, Doug Bania, Morgan Night, Depp's hand doctor Dr. David Kulber and Jennifer Howell, Law & Crime reported. 

Amber Heard only kept her role in Aquaman because its star Jason Momoa and the film's director fought for her, the jury in Depp's defamation trial against the actress heard.

Heard's witness Kathryn Arnold evaluated Depp's claims for damages as a result of Heard's op-ed as well as Heard's claim for damages based on comments from Depp's lawyer that her allegations were a 'hoax.'

According to Arnold, Aquaman was Heard's 'a star is born moment' but instead of it being a springboard for her career, she was nearly cut from the sequel.

Heard only kept her role because Jason Momoa, Heard's co-star, and the film's director James Wan 'committed to her' and were 'adamant she was in the film,' claimed Arnold, who spoke with Heard as part of her preparation for testifying.

According to Arnold, the first draft of Aquaman 2 her character Mera had a 'strong romantic arc the entire film and some great action sequences.'

Closing arguments are expected later this week. 

During cross examination after the afternoon break Monday, Depp's legal team questioned industry consultant Kathryn Arnold as to why she compared Amber Heard's career to the careers of big stars like Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot.

'She's never been the title character in a movie,' he said. 'She wasn't on TV for years.'

'For the jury to accept your damage analysis, they would have to agree with you that Heard was on the precipice of a meteoric rise,' he pointed out.

Kathryn Arnold testified Monday that Amber Heard's career was on the rise prior to the 'defamatory' statements made by Depp's former lawyer, Adam Waldman in 2020.

Waldman told media outlets that Heard made false allegations of abuse by Depp and that she staged the 'abuse hoax.'

Arnold said Heard received negativity on social media which halted her career. 

She compared Heard's career to that of similar actors in the industry including Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Chris Pine and Ana de Armas - and said her career should have followed the same time frame.

All of them had a 'meteoric' rise after their 'star is born' moment and got lucrative endorsement deals and massive paychecks, Arnold said.

'It would have been very reasonable to believe her career would have been on an upward trajectory.'

Arnold said Heard was set to be on the cover of LA Style following her role on the Stephen King mii-series 'The Stand,' but was taken away following the 'Depp-Waldman statements.'

She said Heard made $200,000 per episode on 'The Stand' and it's likely that fee would have gone up from there with her agents using the leverage of the success of Aquaman.

Arnold told the court on Monday that Depp's career was already declining prior to the Washington Post op-ed piece by Amber Heard.

Arnold said Heard's op-ed did not impact Depp's role in 'Pirates 6,' because the movie had not been made yet.

'Mr. Depp is claiming that he lost money on 'Pirates 6,' but 'Pirates 6' hasn't even made yet,' Arnold said. 'So, I don't know how you lose something that hasn't happened.'

She said Depp had an 'extraordinary' career but had a series of 'bombs' before 'Pirates 5' that were not very successful at the box office.

These films included 'Mortdecai' (2015), 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' (2016) and 'The Lone Ranger' (2013).

She added that Depp's character Jack Sparrow had been 'exhausted in terms of where it could go creatively' and there were also concerns about his behavior. 

'It was difficult for the industry to work with him,' she said.

'Well, we talked about the erratic behavior, the tardiness, the drugs and alcohol abuse,' Arnold added. 'And the lawsuits have had a really big impact, not just this lawsuit but previously lawsuits that Mr. Depp has been involved with because there’s a lot of publicity around anything he does.'

She added: 'It's hard for studios, especially a studio like Disney who's family-oriented, be connected to a star that has texts about burnt corpses and violent behavior in video.'

Entertainment industry expert witness Kathryn Arnold testified there were questions as to whether Heard would be retained for the second Aquaman movie.

She said the first movie was her 'star is born' moment, but the negative publicity affected her role in the industry. 

Heard had previously testified that she was set to earn $2 million for Aquaman 2, but Warner Bros. decided to diminish her role, citing a 'lack of chemistry' between Heard and Aquaman star Jason Momoa.

Johnny Depp will not be taking the stand on Wednesday, a source close to Heard's legal team told NBC News.

The source said Depp's testimony 'has been irrelevant to the heart of this case' and that is not expected to change.

The actor could still return to the stand later this week when Depp's team questions rebuttal witnesses prior to closing arguments.

Kathryn Arnold, an entertainment industry consultant and expert, with over 20 years in the business, is now on the stand and being questioned by Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s lawyer.

Spiegel described several narcissistic traits he believes Depp has and explained his reasoning after Depp's attorney questioned his ability to make the judgement.

He said Depp displayed five of nine narcissistic personality traits, including needing admiration from others, displayed moments of entitlement, and a lack of empathy.

'Mr. Depp requires admiration from the very people that surround him...or they're no longer in his employment or his working circle,' Spiegel said.

He added that envy and a fragile sense of self-esteem are two of the other traits, Spiegel said.

'I think jealousy is a good start for that,' Spiegel said of the envy trait, citing Depp's alleged objections to Heard's desire to have a career and reported jealously over her male co-stars. 

As the court was let out for morning break on Monday, a woman with a baby yelled out that the child belonged to Johnny. She was promptly escorted from the courtroom.

Law & Crime Network host Angenette Levy reported that the woman in the gallery yelled out, 'Johnny, I love you! Our souls are connected!'

Johnny waved back, as he's done with many of his supporters - which she responded by holding up the baby and shouting, 'This baby is yours!'

The woman's wristband was cut from her arm, and she was removed from the courthouse.

During cross examination before lunch break, Dr. Spiegel testified that he read about Depp using earpieces on movie sets.

He had previously explained the cognitive impact of severe substance abuse, including memory loss and difficulty concentrating.

Citing a report he read, he gave the example of Depp being fed lines through an earpiece when acting.

Depp's lawyer Wayne Dennison asked Dr. Spiegel about actors' use of earpieces.

'I don't believe that actors are routinely given their entire script through earpieces," Spiegel said. 'I find that hard to believe.'

'Do you know whether Marlon Brando used an earpiece?' Depp's attorney asked Spiegel.

'Isn't he dead,' Dr. Spiegel asked. When the lawyer responds that he is, the doctor responds: 'The answer is no, well, he does not use one now.'

'I know nothing about acting,' Spiegel admitted. 'If that's the standard, I am wrong, I don't know.'

Depp covers his face with his hands and shakes his head. 

'I don't want to talk about all of them, but ... in particular are: one, having someone in the relationship who is jealous or suspicious,' he said. 'Two, having someone who has a higher than average acceptance of violence ideations. Three, someone who has rapid and extreme mood shifts. Four, someone who has limited self-control.'

Heard's attorney Elaine Bredehoft asked if there was evidence of Depp with these warning signs, Spiegel said it was almost 'routine.'

'You start seeing partners getting angry, starting to break down the communication, starting to engage in verbal, non-verbal threats,' he explained.

He also explained that narcissism can be related to IPV, describing narcissists as having poor self-control, rapid mood shifts, being envious and worshipping power and control.

There are 'calm' phases' and it's common for the individuals to blame the victim, he added.

Things get heated as Dr. Spiegel discussed the Goldwater Rule while he was on the stand Monday. He said his opinions of Depp are within the Goldwater Rule guidelines. 

He added that he is not offering any 'armchair diagnosis' of Depp on his cognitive well-being.

'If you want the jury to believe that expert witness are unethical, then I guess that's for them to decide,' he said.

The rule states that psychiatrists have a responsibility to participate in activities contributing to the improvement of the community.

But they should not give a professional opinion about public figures who they have not examined in person or have obtained consent to discuss their mental health in public statements.

Dr. Spiegel rattled off multiple drugs while on the stand Monday - both prescribed and illegal - that he said Depp was taking, in addition to consuming alcohol.

He told the court that people with substance abuse disorder take legally prescribed drugs to help them go to sleep and wake up.

Th doctor said Depp was taking Seroquel as a sleeping agent, and that it 'really knocks people out.'

Depp was also taking Adderall, a legal prescribed drug to keep him awake.

When these drugs are combined with illegal substances like cocaine and MDMA, and used chronically, a patient can get irritable, agitated, suspicious, jealous, potentially disinhibited and psychotic, Spiegel said.

He said the chronic substance use can throw off a patient's 'circadian rhythm.'

Camille Vasquez, 37, one of Depp's lawyers who won a massive online following after 'grilling' Amber Heard last week is back in the courtroom Monday.

Interactions between Vasquez and Heard became tense during the cross-examination and at one point, she got Heard to admit she didn't donate her full $7 million divorce settlement to charity despite previously claiming to have done so.

The tough lawyer's following grew with fan-fueled rumors of a budding romance between Vasquez and Depp.

A TMZ reporter called out to her outside court last week: 'The people want to know, are you dating Johnny Depp? It's all over the internet. Can you set the record straight, yes or no?'

The California litigator declined to answer as she laughed, brushed her hair aside and waved to the throngs of fans gathered outside.

Kate Moss, 48, will take the stand on Wednesday, the New York Post reported. She will testify via video link.

The model was in a relationship with Depp between 1994 and 1997.

Amber Heard brought up Moss during her testimony last week, saying she had heard a rumor that Depp pushed the model down a flight of stairs.

'Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s that clearly she felt was not supportive of him, which couldn’t be further from the truth,' a source close to Depp told The Post.

Samuel Moniz is one of the lawyers of Johnny Depp’s legal team.

He's an associate in the Brown Rudnick, which is representing Depp in a $50 million defamation trial against his former wife Amber Heard.

The other lawyers on Depp's team include Ben Chew, Stephanie Calnan, Andrew Crawford, Rebecca MacDowell Lecaroz, Yarelyn Mena, Jessica Meyers, and Camille Vasquez.

Dr. Spiegel told the court that he was 'not here to impeach Mr. Depp's acting skills or his persona, he has way greater skills than I do in that'.

The doctor said he was there to talk about how drugs and alcohol can cause 'bad things to happen' when people go past their limit.

Dr. Spiegel reeled off the substances that Depp abused: alcohol, amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, LSD, ecstasy, opiates and others, often at the same time.

He said that Depp's drug use caused a concerning level of damage to his memory, as evidenced by his former therapist asking him to remember three words and repeat them five minutes later.

Dr. Spiegel said: 'Mr. Depp was unable to recall any of them and that's very unusual for a 50-ish year old male.

'Generally speaking that age group should be remembering two or all three of those words. I do know his lines were also fed to him by earpiece.

Dr. Spiegel testified: 'Mr. Depp has behaviors that are consistent with someone that both has substance use disorder as well as behaviors of someone who is a perpetrator of intimate partner violence.'

Dr. Moore, an orthopedic surgeon, disputed Depp's account of how his finger was severed. Graphic photos of the finger were shown in court on Monday. 

Psychiatrist Dr. David Spiegel is called to the stand by Heard's team. A majority of his patients have substance abuse problems.

Heard's lawyer Ben Rottenborn showed the jury photos and x-rays of Depp's finger injury. 

Dr. Moore told the court that the injury described by Depp would have caused injury to the nail.

He said Depp's account of the injury does not align with the evidence he reviewed.

Moore added that physicians that examined Depp's hand did not note that there were any shards of glass in Depp's hand.

Dr. Richard Moore said he reviewed photos, medical records, along with Depp's testimony.

Graphic images of Depp's finger were displayed for the jury.

Depp had testified that Heard severed his finger by throwing vodka bottles at him while they were fighting in Australia in 2015.

But the doctor said the medical data is inconclusive.

'It's not consistent with what we see in the described injury pattern... the description was the hand being flat on the bar and the bottle crushing the finger from the top. But looking at the images, there's really no significant injury to the dorsal of the finger and created the type of injury ... we would anticipate both injury to the fingernail and other parts of the finger.'

The doctor said the injury looks more consistent with the finger being squeezed between two hard surfaces similar to between sliding glass doors.
