Contract-Filip-Roos-16x9

The Chicago Blackhawks today announced the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Filip Roos on a two-year entry-level contract that runs through the 2023-24 season ($925,000 salary cap hit).

The 6-foot-4 blueliner recently skated in his first full season in the Swedish Hockey League, registering six points (1G, 5A) in 50 games with Skellefteå AIK during the 2021-22. He also added an assist in six postseason games with the club.

"Filip is a big body who possesses strong skating abilities for his size," said Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson. "That's a combination of traits that teams across the league are always searching for. Filip played valuable minutes in Sweden's top league this season and he will strengthen our pool of defensive prospects."

Prior to joining Skellefteå this season, the Göteborg, Sweden native played two seasons with BIK Karlskoga of HockeyAllsvenskan from 2019-2021, compiling 40 points (7G, 33A) in 98 contests. Roos paced club defenseman with a career-high 28 points (6G, 22A) during the 2020-21 campaign.

The 23-year-old made his SHL debut with Frölunda HC during the 2018-19 season, playing in one contest. He played two seasons with Frölunda HC J20 (J20 SuperElit) from 2017-19, recording 30 points (8G, 22A) in 75 regular-season games and three assists through 11 playoff contests. He also skated in 24 games with Hanhals IF (HockeyEttan) during the 2018-19 season, posting 11 points (6G, 5A).
