Man wearing 'weighted book bag' found dead in Hudson River

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A dead man wearing a “weighted book bag” was pulled out of the Hudson River on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The body of the 26-year-old was retrieved from the water near Pier 40 at Hudson River Park around 11 a.m. by members of the NYPD’s Harbor Unit.

A police spokesperson told the New York Post that it’s unclear exactly what was in the book bag.

The unidentified man reportedly had no obvious signs of trauma. The medical examiner is working to determine how he died.
