CSB: Jacks season ends at Orlando Regional

5-23-22

ORLANDO, F.L. (GoJacks.com) — Michigan broke a scoreless deadlock on a two-run single by Lexie Blair in the bottom of the fifth inning and held off South Dakota State for a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Softball Tournament Friday at UCF Softball Complex.

That sent South Dakota State to the loser-out bracket where on Sunday, Kelsey Lenox doubled in Rozelyn Carrillo with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Jackrabbits prevailed 5-4 over Villanova in the wild conclusion of a suspended game due to weather.

In the second loser-out game of Sunday, Michigan pitcher Alex Storako struck out 12 batters and took a shutout into the seventh inning to lead the Wolverines to a 4-1 victory over South Dakota State.

The Jackrabbits, who were making their second consecutive NCAA appearance, closed out the year with a 41-13 record.
