Variations / Options / Add-Ins

Are you looking for ways to personalize this easy recipe? Here are some of my favorite tried and true swaps for this recipe.

Spicy: Add some cayenne pepper or red chili flakes to the flour mixture for a spicy flavor that will awaken your taste buds.

Bacon Wrapped: Wrap each pickle in bacon before air frying to create an even more irresistible appetizer. Simply wrap a strip of bacon around each pickle, secure with a toothpick, and follow the cooking instructions above.

Parmesan: Add some grated parmesan cheese to the flour mixture for a cheesy flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your air fryer pickles straight out of the air fryer for a crispier texture. These dipping sauce suggestions are the best partners of pickle chips, so make sure to serve one of these with your chips:

  • Tangy dipping sauce
  • Cajun dipping sauce
  • Spicy ranch dipping sauce
  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Barbeque sauce
  • Jalapeno Ranch

Tips

Want to make sure that your pickle chips turn out well? Here are some of my best tips for this appetizer recipe.

  • Spacing is essential when making this recipe to ensure that these turn out crispy.  Be careful not to overload the air fryer basket.
  • Different air fryers cook food a little differently. Make sure to check if your air fryer pickle chips are perfectly cooked before serving.
  • Properly drain your pickles before coating so that the coating will stick properly to them.
  • You can also use Panko bread crumbs to make it crispier. I just prefer the regular breading/coating.
