Oper Graz’s Chief Conductor Roland Kluttig will leave the house at the end of the 2022-23 season.

The conductor said on May 20, that the move will come “At my own request.”

The conductor began his tenure in 2020 and has since led productions of “The Passenger” by Mieczysław Weinberg, which was also produced on CD and DVD. He was also on the podium at the Austrian premiere of “Morgen und Abend” by Georg Haas.

Last season in Graz, he led new productions of Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem,” Bedřich Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride,” Leoš Janáček’s “Katja Kabanova,” and a revival of Verdi’s “Don Carlo.” The conductor also made his debut at the Salzburg Festival.

Kluttig will end his tenure with Robert Schumann’s “Scenes from Goethe’s ‘Faust,'” and Gustav Mahler’s third symphony.
