The Dallas Mavericks are in a rather tough spot in the playoffs right now. After a stunning Game 3 loss to the Golden State Warriors, the team now finds themselves in a 0-3 hole. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in the postseason. Things are definitely looking bleak right now for Luka Doncic and co.

After the game, Mavs guard Spencer Dinwiddie was asked whether they felt overwhelmed by the talent disparity between them and the Warriors. The point guard would respond by saying no. He used Draymond Green as an example as to why he feels like there isn't really a talent gap between the two teams, saying that: (via Ben Golliver)

“He's one of the greatest role players of all time, but he's not a traditional, stand-alone max guy, right? You're not going to put him on the floor and [say], ‘Hey, go get 30.'”

At first glance, it seems like Spencer Dinwiddie is taking a subtle shot at Draymond Green here. However, context is important here. The Mavs guard was just saying Draymond fills a specific need for the team, and that isn't scoring the ball. It's a bit poorly worded, and a little mistimed, but based on Dinwiddie's tone when answering the question, it's fair to say that he doesn't mean any ill will towards the Warriors.

Dinwiddie and the Mavs have bigger things to worry about, though. For one, they need to find a way to claw back into this series. The odds are stacked against them this time around. If the NBA Playoffs have taught us anything, though, it's that anything is possible.
