Reds' rookie Graham Ashcraft made his MLB pitching debut on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 24-year-old who was pulled up from the Reds' Triple A affiliate the Louisville Bats, had an impressive start with the Reds. Ashcraft pitched 4 1/3 innings and only allowed two earned runs on four hits with two walks, one hit-by-pitch and three strikeouts against the Blue Jays. He is also ranked No. 8 by the MLB among the Reds' top prospects. He faced 21 batters throwing 76 pitches, 43 of them being strikes. Ashcraft was removed in the fifth inning with one out. Jim Day of Bally Sports Ohio reported that Ashcraft did not have any family members in Toronto due to the COVID-19 protocols and because Ashcraft found out he would be starting in place of the injured Connor Overton on Saturday, the day before his debut. The Reds added Ashcraft to the Taxi Squad from Louisville on Wednesday. The sixth-round draft pick by the Reds in 2019 was a non-roster invitee to Major League spring training camp — his first — before the start of this season. The Cincinnati Reds will conclude their series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday and move on to the Chicago Cubs with a four-game series played at Great American Ball Park at 6:40 p.m. on Monday.
