LIVE BLOG: FSU Softball vs. Mississippi State in Game 2 of Tallahassee Regional Final
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - WCTV Sports’ Dominic Miranda here at JoAnne Graf Field for the Regional Final between Florida State and Mississippi State. FSU fell in Game One between the two meaning both teams now have a loss on the tournament. This game will decide who advances to the Super Regionals. Florida State is eyeing it’s ninth straight trip to the Super Regionals. Game Two will begin at approximately 4:50pm. Follow along here for LIVE updates:

FINAL: FSU 3, Mississippi St. 4
Bulldogs advance to Super Regional play. FSU’s incredible season comes to a surprising end.
Bottom 7th: It all comes down to this. Mack Leonard appears to beat out an infield single. After review she’s ruled out. One out as Devyn Flaherty steps to the plate. Flaherty flies out to left field. FSU is down to its last out as Jahni Kerr steps to the dish. Jahni Kerr flies out to third. Mississippi State completes the improbable and defeats FSU 4-3.
Top 7th: Sandercock works a 1-2-3 top of the 7th. Three outs to get something done for FSU as they trail Mississippi State 4-3.
Bottom 6th: Josie Muffley leads off the inning with a single. Top of the lineup now up for FSU. Kaley Mudge strikes out swinging. Sherrill flies out to left field. Harding to the plate. Harding flies out to second base. FSU unable to get anything going. We head to the 7th. Bulldogs lead FSU 4-3.
Top 6th: Mississippi State goes down in order. They hold a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom half of the frame.
Bottom 5th: Mack Leonard leads off the inning with a bloop single over third base. That’s the start the ‘Noles needed. Flaherty grounds into a fielder’s choice. Kerr up with a runner on first. Kerr singles through the left side, Flaherty hustles to third, Kerr to second on the throw--HOWEVER--Umpires say Flaherty left early from first. She’s out. Kerr goes back to the plate now with bases empty and no outs. Talk about a TOUGH break right there. Kerr still singles and Edenfield singles right after her. Two on and two outs as Chloe Culp steps up to the plate. Culp strikes out swinging ending FSU’s threat. Mississippi State leads 4-3 as we head to the top of the 6th.
FSU 3, Mississippi St. 4
Top 5th: Madisyn Kennedy leads off the 5th with a line drive single into center. A fielder’s choice, then a Brylie St. Clair single puts two on and one out for the Bulldogs. That will end Danielle Watson’s day. Final line: 4.1 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Kathryn Sandercock comes into the ballgame. Mia Davidson walks. Bases loaded with one out for the Bulldogs. Shea Moreno to the plate. On the first pitch, Moreno singles through the right side to score a run cutting the deficit to just one. 3-2 ‘Noles lead. Chloe Malau’ulu with the clutchest at bat of the day. Singles up the middle with two strikes. That plates two and Mississippi State takes a 4-3 lead over FSU. Runners on the corners with still just one out. Paige cook grounds out. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with Jackie McKenna at the dish for the Bulldogs. Cook grounds out to end the inning. Mississippi State plates 3 runs in the top of the 5th to take a 4-3 lead over FSU.
Bottom 4th: Nothing going for the ‘Noles in the bottom of the 4th. They hold on to a 3-1 lead as we head to the 5th.
Top 4th: Shea Moreno leads off the inning with a single. Addison Purvis walks. It’s first and second with two outs and Matalasi Faapito at the dish. Coach Alameda takes a mound visit to talk things over. Watson gets out of the inning unscathed. FSU holds a 3-1 lead heading to the bottom of the 4th.
Bottom 3rd: Annie Willis now in to pitch for the Bulldogs. Chloe Culp had a chance with runners on the corners and two outs. A flyout to second base ends the inning. FSU holds a 3-1 lead heading to the top of the 4th.
Top 3rd: Watson works a 1-2-3 third. FSU gets right back to the batter’s box.
FSU 3, Mississippi St. 1
Bottom 2nd: Kaley Mudge with a two-out RBI double off the left field wall to score Josie Muffley. Sherril walks to make it first and second with two outs for Kalei Harding. Harding grounds out to short to end the inning, but the ‘Noles get that run back. FSU leads Mississippi State 3-1 heading to the top of the 3rd.
FSU 2, Mississippi St. 1
Top 2nd: Walk, Paige Cook single, and Mississippi St. has two on with no one out here to start the inning. Addison Purvis with a sac fly advancing both runners. Second and third with one out for the Bulldogs. Matalasi Faapito follows it up with an RBI Sac Fly to put the Bulldogs on the board. Madisyn Kennedy grounds out to third to end the inning. Bulldogs cut the deficit in half. FSU leads 2-1.
FSU 2, Mississippi St. 0
Bottom 1st: Kaley Mudge leads off the inning with a triple off the left center wall. On the very next pitch, Sydney Sherrill smokes one dead center for a two-run homerun sending the place into a frenzy. ‘Noles lead 2-0, and Mississippi State changes pitchers. Kenley Hawk in for Aspen Wesley. The Bulldogs settle down after the pitching change and get out of the inning. We head to the top of the 2nd. FSU leads Mississippi State 2-0.
Top 1st: Watson strikes out two to start the game going 1-2-3. FSU coming up for its first crack at the dish.
4:40 PM -- Danielle Watson will start in the circle for Florida State in Game Two. The starting lineup is as follows:
