Medical staff at the race rushed Reichman to Coney Island Hospital after he collapsed at the finish line and went into cardiac arrest.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sixteen other runners, including Reichman, were hospitalized at the race, which experienced temperatures in the high 70s.

As of Saturday afternoon, four were in serious condition, eight had non-life-threatening injuries and the other four had minor injuries, according to the FDNY.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of a participant following the 2022 RBC Brooklyn Half. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the runner’s family and those close to them,” New York Road Runners, the group that organized the race, said in a statement. “The health and safety of our runners, volunteers, partners, and staff remain the top priority for NYRR.”
