Moon Knight spoilers follow.

Marvel's Moon Knight has been called out for a huge plot hole involving Jake Lockley.

The title character of the series suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID) and a huge plot of the first season shows Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector and Steven Grant at odds and battling with each other.

However, during the last episode, the Marvel show introduced a third unknown persona called Jake Lockley in the post-credits scene.

It became apparent that Jake is more dangerous than any of them, and while this sets things up for season two if it ever arrives, there is some confusion as to why he was only introduced in the last few seconds of the finale.

The finale saw Marc and Steven able to co-exist and balance the scales, but if Jake was there all along, how were they able to do that? Well, Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater has said it's all to do with the fact that the characters didn't know he was there.

"Yeah, we kept him out of there. Essentially, Marc and Steven needed to reconcile who they were. They needed to come to grips with who they are inside that system," Slater told The Direct. "They weren't aware of [Jake's] presence, so they didn't really have anything to balance in terms of that because they're still sort of unaware.

"It was much more about their internal journey over the course of that episode. And a lot of people – I like the fact that there is still healthy debate in terms of what actually causes those scales to become balanced at the end of the episode."

As for continuing the story and discovering how Jake could fit into the new found balance that Marc Spector/Steven Grant have found, it doesn't seem likely at this point.

"You know, I think we approached it as 'This is the story, and let's just put everything out on the table on this story'," Isaac said.

"There's definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is."
