The Blues are hopeful that Binnington could return later in the Stanley Cup Playoffs if they advance.
Goalie Ville Husso will start Game 4 at Enterprise Center on Monday (9:30 p.m. ET; TNT, CBC, SN, TVAS). The Avalanche lead the best-of-7 series 2-1.
Binnington left Game 3 on Saturday at 6:45 of the first period after the goalie was knocked over by teammate Calle Rosen and Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri, who was skating hard for a rebound. No penalty was assessed on the play.
"He's playing good hockey for us," Blues center Brayden Schenn said of Binnington. "Came in and got his mojo back and his swagger back. Feel for him. Obviously unfortunate injury and at the same time, we have full confidence in Ville. Both guys have had the net at times this year and both guys are very capable of winning hockey games. We're looking forward to seeing what Ville can do and when he's in the net, we're just as confident with 'Binner' there and just got to play hard in front of them."

Binnington initially tried to shake off the injury, but as he was moving from side to side in his crease he appeared to be in pain and skated off the ice.
"I just see a loose puck, really," Kadri said after the game. "I mean, I was kind of just sitting behind him and just tried to poke it with my stick, and I think their defenseman kind of collided with me and pushed me into him. So you know, had that not been the case, I don't think I would have hit him at all. It's a loose puck. I'm just trying to bang it in."
St. Louis led 1-0 at the time before going on to lose 5-2.
"We've moved on from it," Blues coach Craig Berube said Sunday. "I don't really want to talk about it anymore because it doesn't do anything to talk about it anymore. We've got to get focused for tomorrow's game, and focusing on that play and focusing on Kadri doesn't help our team."
Charlie Lindgren was recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League under emergency conditions Sunday. The goalie was 5-0-0 with a 1.22 goals-against average and .958 save percentage during the regular season with the Blues.
"He's done a great job down there (in Springfield)," Berube said of Lindgren. "He just had a game he won (with) 50 saves down there in the minors. He's played well. He's a good goalie."
Husso made 19 saves on 23 shots in Game 3, his first since he was replaced by Binnington for Game 4 of the first round against the Minnesota Wild. He is 1-3 with a 3.38 GAA, .891 save percentage and one shutout in four playoff games.
Binnington entered Game 3 having won four of his five starts this postseason with a 1.75 GAA and .948 save percentage. He made 51 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Avalanche in Game 1 and 30 saves in Game 2 to help the Blues even the series with a 4-1 win.
"It's always tough," Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly said. "Obviously, Binner's the heart and soul, playing unbelievable, but I think it kind of took the momentum away and took us a little too long to kind of get it back going again. Things like that happened. We're a deep team, and we could have done a better job of getting the momentum back and adjusting."
