The Detroit Tigers' offense continues to struggle, and with Austin Meadows still sidelined, things don't figure to get better any time soon. Manager AJ Hinch gave an honest update on Meadows' struggles with vertigo, which landed the outfielder on the 10-day IL. Via Jason Beck, Hinch revealed Meadows is at home in Florida and won't be with the team on their current road trip.

Additionally, Hinch admitted that there's significant concern regarding Meadows' struggles with symptoms of vertigo. The outfielder said he often feels as if the room is spinning, making it near impossible for him to play baseball at the moment. Vertigo is certainly uncommon among MLB players, so it makes sense that Hinch and the Tigers are expressing some worry about their star outfielder.
Meadows was off to a strong start to the season prior to vertigo symptoms landing him on the IL. In 28 games, Meadows slashed .267/.362/.347 with 27 hits, 11 RBI, and 12 walks. The Tigers' marquee offseason acquisition has no timetable for a return, as it largely depends on when his vertigo symptoms go away or at least relinquish for the time being.

Beck reports that this isn't a recurring issue for Meadows, who said he has never experienced vertigo prior to this in his life.
Hopefully, Meadows is able to get right soon and re-join the Tigers before long, but considering Detroit's struggles in the 2022 MLB season, they should be willing to give Meadows as much time as he needs to make sure he's back to 100% and is symptom-free.
