Five Man Utd flops fail audition in front of Ten Hag as incoming manager prepares for summer cull and transfer overhaul

MANCHESTER UNITED failed to impress incoming manager Erik ten Hag at Selhurst Park.

The Dutchman watched from the stands as United sealed their worst ever Premier League run with another hapless performance against Crystal Palace.

Former Red Devils ace Wilfried Zaha sealed Palace's first ever Prem win at home against the one-time Manchester giants after 37 minutes.

It is obvious the Dutch tactician has his work cut out ahead of next season at Old Trafford with a transfer haul looking imminent.

And the former Ajax boss may have to think twice about the following five players, who flopped on their first audition in front of him.

Here are the FIVE stars that struggled in front of Ten Hag's watchful eye in South London:

Bruno Fernandes

Potuguese has been a huge influence since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020 and he definitely deserves opportunities under Ten Hag.

But Fernandes will have to do much better than he did at Palace as it was his stray pass that led to the goal and he failed to create dangers in the Eagles' area.

Diogo Dalot

Struggled against Tyrick Mitchell and Zaha down the right flank and carries responsibility for the winner.

Palace's goalscorer danced around Dalot before hitting David de Gea's bottom right corner.

The full-back produced numerous heavy touches as well as loose passes and picked up a reckless yellow card with a heavy tackle on Conor Gallagher.

Victor Lindelof

Centre half also carries responsibility for Zaha's winner as he left space open and didn't offer enough back-up for Dalot.

Lindelof failed to read the game properly and his chances of first-team football under Ten Hag are surely low.

Scott McTominay

United's midfield was dreadful against Crystal Palace and McTominay couldn't exert any authority against Jeffrey Schlupp as well as Will Hughes in the middle of the park.

McTominay also wasted a major opportunity at the death with a free header that was so weak it caused no alarm for Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Fred

The same goes for Fred who had a number of heavy touches and didn't bring anything when United tried to get forward.

The Brazil international will have to show a lot more to keep a place in the starting line-up under Ten Hag.
