Bay Area COVID cases rising

Chin-Hong is an infectious disease specialist at UCSF who specializes in treating infectious diseases with a focus on infections that develop in immunosuppressed patients. Dr. Chin-Hong also weighed in on the recent outbreak of monkeypox in parts of the United States, and how that virus’ symptoms can mirror those of COVID in the early stages.

Bay Area COVID cases have seen a spike in recent weeks. As of May 23, there are 148,277 total confirmed cases for San Francisco and 871 deaths since the outset of the pandemic. Rising cases in the Bay Area have led to among other things, the reinstatement of the mask rule for BART.
