Riverside Brewery Owner Arrested In Suspected DUI Crash That Killed Male Driver On I-15

ONTARIO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Back on Wednesday March 30, 2022, Ryan Wicks the owner of Wick’s Brewery in Riverside was involved in a fatal crash. He is suspected of driving under the influence, according to the victims son, Bryan Boeldt.

California Highway Patrol and Ontario Fire Department received calls of a two vehicle crash in which one vehicle rolled over off of the freeway. The crash happened at about 12:56am Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 15 just before the Jurupa Avenue exit.

Ryan was driving a white Audi at high speeds according to reports, when he hit a silver BMW SUV. The impact caused the BMV to flip multiple times down the embankment killing 52-year-old driver, Gary Boeldt of Escondido inside.

Since the information of the crash happened, Wick’s Brewery has received threats and the business has been closed for several days due to the threats. Wick’s Brewery is known for being supportive of the law enforcement community.

The family of the victim said on Facebook that Wicks should have never been behind the wheel of a vehicle and said it wasn’t the first time the brewery owner has been accused of driving under the influence. The victims family stated, this is his 4th DUI arrest on record.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office said on Friday May 20, 2022 they have filed murder charges against Ryan Wicks 39-year-old of Riverside, for allegedly causing an auto collision on March 31, 2022. This crash killed one individual and injured another while Wicks was driving intoxicated. Wicks, the owner of Wicks Brewing in Riverside has one previous DUI conviction in 2005 in San Bernardino County. Its unknown where the other DUI came from or if its true.

Defendant Wicks has been charged with one count PC 187 – Murder and two counts VC23153(a) – Driving Under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage Causing Injury. Wicks was arrested at the hospital following the incident, and later posted bond in the amount of $1,100,000.00. His next hearing date is set for June 6, 2022 at 8:30am at Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse department R19.
