A vigil was held on Saturday for Romen Phelps, who was killed when he crashed a van through the gates of Dreyfoos School of the Arts on Friday, May 13.

Friends and family gathered across the street to remember the 33-year-old.

Robbin Jackman, Phelps mother, spoke with CBS12 News about the event.

"I'm just feeling very honored to have all these people show their love for Romen, because he loved people," said Jackman.

Phelps, an alumni at Dreyfoos, had struggles with mental health according to his friends and former classmates.

"This honestly could have happened to anyone who is suffering with a mental illness," said Danielle Kennedy-Palmer, a former classmate of Phelps. "Our heart goes out to all of those who are suffering and we just want the community to be aware of the resources in Palm Beach County."
