What to know about Tom Green County's primary runoff elections
Tom Green County will hold three primary runoff elections Tuesday, May 24.
Here's a look at the races and other information voters need to know:
• The runoff for Tom Green County Judge is between Lane Carter and Todd Kolls. Carter had 35% of the votes in the March primary, while Kolls had 32%, as they separated themselves from the other two candidates, Joe Hyde and Tommy Usery.
• The race for County Commissioner Precinct 4, which had six candidates, is down to Shawn Nanny and Bill Ford. Nanny had 26% of the votes in the March primary, while Ford had 25%. The other candidates included Lori Wilson, Dustin Barton, Coco Simpson and Derrick Garnett.
• The other runoff is between Ron Perry and Stacye Speck for Justice Of The Peace Precinct 3. Perry garnered 47% of the votes in March, and Speck had 44%, as they outdistanced the other candidate, Martha Muro.
Candidates were required to receive 50.1% of the votes to avoid a runoff. The other five contested county races met that threshold, while six other offices went to candidates who ran unopposed.
