Fire damages Baxter County residence; dog doesn’t survive

A Saturday evening fire has damaged a house and a garage in Baxter County. The Mountain Home Fire Department says no humans were injured in the fire at 1017 Leatherstocking Trail, south of Mountain Home, but a dog was not able to survive. The name of the residence’s owner was not available.

According to the fire department report, crews were alerted just after 7 and were on the scene for nearly five hours. The residence had 75% fire damage, 100% smoke damage and 50% water damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mountain Home had 15 personnel, an engine company, four tankers and five support vehicles on the scene. Mutual aid was provided by the Buford and Clarkridge fire departments.
