Ernesto De Leon Jr.

Ernesto De Leon Jr., 55, of Uvalde died on May 14, 2022, at his residence. 

He was born on Aug. 26, 1966, in Uvalde to Stella (Maldonado) and Ernesto De Leon Sr.

He graduated Poudre High School in Ft. Collins, Colorado, in 1984. 

He ventured into the world of management. He also earned a phlebotomy license and cosmetology license. Some of his hobbies included collecting antiques, cooking, and quilting.

The family said he will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews to whom he played a great role of father figure in their lives. They described him as a social person and made many friends along the way and said those who got to know him were truly blessed to have him as a friend.

He is survived by two sisters, Elaine De Leon and husband, Henry Standley, of Sabinal and Edna Jane De Leon of San Antonio; three nieces, Shannon Nicole De Leon and husband, EJ Pierce, of Camp Wood, Selena De Leon Castillo and husband, Matthew, of Sabinal, Siera Edwards and husband, Jeremiah Godsey, of San Antonio; four great-nieces, Soraya De Leon, Braelynn Musquiz, Sophia Davila, and Lucia De Leon; five great-nephews, Elijah Garcia, Ernest De Leon, Tobias Castillo, Ethan De Leon and Lukas Castillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Etna De Leon; and brother Eli De Leon, all formerly of Camp Wood.

Visitation was held Saturday at 11 a.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
