After quite the performance last week, Orleans utilityman Bryce Berning is receiving recognition. The junior continued his hot season at the plate, going 7-12 across four games with a double, two home runs and five runs batted in to his name.

Impressively, he hit both home runs against Class 1A No. 2 Barr-Reeve. After that kind of production, Berning was voted the Times-Mail Top Performer for last week.

Berning received 7,103 (71.03 percent) of the 10,000 votes cast in the reader poll, winning with ease to give Orleans its first victory in the contest this spring.

Mitchell softball's Avery Southern finished second with 2,717 votes after breaking the Bluejackets' career home runs record last week, Mitchell baseball's Ben Seitzinger finished third with 140 votes and Bedford North Lawrence track and field's Zane Thompson rounded out the voting with 40 ballots cast in his favor.
