Balenciaga Invites Guests to Its Spring 2023 Show With a Stack of Faux Cash
The show is set to take place at the New York Stock Exchange building.
Following Balenciaga‘s unconventional FW22 invitations which were printed on the back of smashed iPhone 6s, creative director Demna Gvasalia now welcomes guests to Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 fashion show with a faux stack of cash.
The “BALENCIAGA DOLLARS” resemble the U.S. hundred dollar bill with the classic Benjamin Franklin mural and markings. However, upon closer inspection, date and time indicators for the show as well as “Balenciaga Spring 23 Show” text are printed on the papers. A Balenciaga-branded green currency strap offers an additional disclaimer indicating that the cash invitation contains no serial numbers and cannot be used as legal tender, and the cash invitation hints at the location of the show, which is set to take place at the New York Stock Exchange building. As an extra touch, the dollars are said to have been imbued with a distinct smell courtesy of artist and researcher Sissel Tolaas.
Balenciaga’s Spring 23 collection will be presented in New York City on May 22, 22 at 11:30 a.m. ET. Look for the show to live stream online at Balenciaga’s website and YouTube channel.
