South Alabama earns 5-seed, Troy 6 for Sun Belt baseball tournament

South Alabama earned the No. 5 seed and a first-round bye for the Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament, which begins Tuesday at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.

The defending champion Jaguars (31-22) face No. 4 Louisiana (33-21) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the first day of double-elimination action. The Ragin’ Cajuns took two of three from USA during the regular season.

Troy (31-23) is the No. 6 seed and meets No. 3 Coastal Carolina (34-17-1) at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The Chanticleers swept the Trojans during the regular season.

Texas State (44-11) is the No. 1 seed after putting up a 26-4 Sun Belt record this season, while Georgia Southern (38-17) is the No. 2 seed. The Bobcats and Eagles await winners from Tuesday’s single-elimination round to determine their Wednesday opponents.

No. 7 Georgia State (30-26) meets No. 10 Louisiana-Monroe (19-34-1) in the first elimination game at 3 p.m. Tuesday. No. 8 Little Rock (24-26) follows vs. No. 9 Appalachian State (19-32).

Double-elimination action continues Thursday and Friday, with the championship game set for 1 p.m. Sunday, May 29. All tournament games will stream live via ESPN+.
