Driver makes liquor run in Ventura

Staff Reports
A driver plowed a car through the glass front of Clark's Liquor in downtown Ventura on Friday night, then fled. No injuries were reported.

A car crashed through a liquor store in downtown Ventura on Friday night and the vehicle's occupants abruptly fled the glass-shattered scene, police said.

Clark's Liquor was occupied when the vehicle plowed through the glass front around 11:40 p.m., but no one inside was injured, Battalion Chief Lou Manzano of the Ventura Fire Department reported

Officers found the car unoccupied when they arrived at the small store at 165 S. California St., near the cross with Thompson Boulevard. Several witnesses said the hit-and-run suspects fled the car after the crash, Ventura Police Department Cmdr. Edward Caliento said in a news release. Officers did not find the suspects, he said.

The building was "severely" damaged, officials said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura police command center at 805-650-8010.
