News You Can Use From Mariposa & Yosemite National Park

YOSEMITEYosemite National Park and Mariposa County’s days are getting longer and warmer and we’re excited to share all of the great things there are to experience in Yosemite and Mariposa County. Here are some great ideas for things to do in some of the county’s lesser known areas, a reminder of the start of reservations due to construction, and share with you some (potentially) award-winning small town culture.

Peak Hours Reservations Requirement Begins May 20

Starting Friday, May 20, Yosemite’s Temporary Peak Hours Reservation System begins and all visitors hoping to explore Yosemite National Park will need to acquire a pass from recreation.gov to enter the park from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Unlike previous years when the reservation system was in place due to COVID-19, this year reservations are required due to a large number of construction projects in Yosemite.

Reservations will be required until Sep. 30.

For those that cannot get a reservation for their planned dates of travel, there is no shortage of great things to experience outside of Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County during peak hours as well as ways to get into the park without a reservation.

Experience Some of America’s Best Small-Town Culture

The town of Mariposa is a nominee for USA Today’s 10Best Travel Award for Best Small-Town Culture, which takes into account museums, art galleries, and live events and festivals. Mariposa currently leads the voting, and for good reason. With three museums, three art galleries, regular live music at a numbers of venues and even its own symphony, Mariposa is certainly rich in culture.
