Marvel's Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba have joined forces in the first trailer for the fantastical romance epic Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Directed by Mad Max's George Miller, it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this week, but won't reach public eyes for a few months yet.
Adapted from A S Byatt's short story The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye, the action follows Swinton's "solitary creature" Alithea, a scholar, who accidentally releases Elba's elf-eared genie into her hotel room, granting her three wishes.

"There's no story about wishing that is not a cautionary tale," she points out, but it's in the genie's best interests to convince her otherwise.
"We all have desires, even if they remain hidden from us. But it is your story and I cannot wait to see where it goes..." he replies.
As the footage plays out, there's that unmistakable sense of visual chaos Miller has mastered over the years - most recently in 2015 classic Fury Road.
Will Alithea succumb to this magical opportunity?
Miller, meanwhile, is busy at work on his Fury Road prequel Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy as a young version of Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa.
"I fell in love with Furiosa, the way that Charlize presented her. She did such an incredible job and it was so beautiful and I can't even think about trying to step into her shoes. It has to be something different because it just can't be done," Taylor-Joy previously said.
Three Thousand Years of Longing will be released in US cinemas on August 31, and September 30 in the UK.
