Abu Dhabi - In an exhibition boxing match, with two-minute rounds, MMA legend Anderson Silva dropped and outworked MMA veteran Bruno Machado over eight rounds.

There were no scores or winner announced at the end of the fight.

Last year, Silva had a big boxing year with two sanctioned wins. He upset former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. with an eight round split decision. Silva would return months later to brutally knock Tito Ortiz out in one round.

Against Machado, Silva had a real size advantage. He was pressing forward and taking his time. Silva had quicker hands, but didn't seem like he was pushing to do much damage in the early going. Machado's punches had little to no effect on Silva.

In the final minute of the fight, Silva went for the kill and let his hands go. He landed big right hand that dropped Machado at the bell. Machado was hurt, but the round had already ended and Silva was unable to follow up.

Silva would go on to outwork and outbox Machado for the remainder of the contest.

For the vacant WBC silver 130-pound title, former long-reigning lightweight champion Delfine Persoon (47-3, 19KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Elhem Mekhelad (15-1, 3KOs).

The scores were 97-94, 97-93 and 96-94 for Persoon.

It was back and forth brawl from the start. Persoon was throwing and landing a lot of punches, but she was also getting clipped by solid counters from Mekhelad. They were exchanging punches, often, in rapid two-way action. Persoon suffered a cut around her right eye during the fourth round. The cut did not prevent Persson from plowing forward with punches. Mekhelad was often giving as good as she was getting.

There was WBC opens scoring. After four rounds one judge had it 39-37 for Mekhelad, the second had it 39-37 for Persoon and the third had 38-38 for the draw.

It was non-stop toe to toe exchanges in the second half of the fight. Persoon seemed to have the edge with sheer volume and constant pressure, but the action was close until the final bell.

In a cruiserweight contest, former two division world champion Badou Jack (26-3-3, 16 KOs) demolished Hany Atiyo (17-6, 12 KOs) in less than a minute of the first round.

Atiyo was a large fighter and in shape, but it clear from the first round that Jack had a significant edge in skill. Jack pressed forward and landed a big left hook that sent Atiyo down very hard. Atiyo was badly hurt and the fight was waved off quickly at 46 seconds of the first.  Atiyo was eventually able to get back to his feet after a ringside doctor gave him oxygen.
