Severe Thunderstorm Watch now issued for the Western Brazos Valley overnight Saturday

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of the Brazos Valley.(KBTX)

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - As a cold front works its way southbound, strong thunderstorms are now working into the Brazos Valley Saturday night, with more possible through the overnight.

As of 11 pm Saturday night, the SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been canceled for Milam, Robertson and Leon counties, but has been re-issued for the following counties, now running through 4 am Sunday morning.

  • Austin, Burleson, Lee, Washington

While not everyone will find a strong/severe thunderstorm, those storms that do develop and/or move into the area will be capable of the following:

  • Strong wind gusts up to 70 mph
  • Hail up the the size of tennis balls
  • Frequent lightning

Strong storms approaching the I-35 corridor late Saturday night could drift into the Western Brazos Valley overnight or help spark up additional activity as the front moves through.
